Women Build

Women Build is a Habitat for Humanity International program that encourages all women, regardless of age or skill level, to advocate for affordable housing by participating in building projects throughout their local communities.

Nearly 1,000 Habitat houses have been built by women crews around the world, and in 2008, the Women Build branch of Alachua Habitat for Humanity completed two homes in our Celebration Oaks subdivision in Gainesville. Since the program’s inception, the all-female volunteer workforce has successfully completed construction on five homes and is currently fundraising to begin construction on House #6 in early 2012!

How to Get Involved With/Help Support Women Build

The cost to build a Habitat home in Alachua County today is $65,000. Your talents can be used in a multitude of areas from staffing informational booths to swinging a hammer on the worksite. Simply participating in Women Build fundraisers is a valuable way to contribute. Contact alachuawomenbuild@gmail.com to find out how you can help.

Current Events

• Saturday, February 25: Join us for a pancake breakfast fundraiser! We’ll be serving pancakes, eggs and sausage for just $6.00 from 8am to 10am at the 13th Street Applebee’s.
• Thursday, March 29th: Celebrate our dedicated sponsors and help us raise the final funds needed to start House #6 at our 5th Annual Luncheon! This event will be held at Villa East 12pm to 1pm. Contact us at the email address above to purchase your tickets ($25)!
